As a child, I hated velvet. I hated everything about it: the way it looks, the way it feels. Everything. Part of the reason I had such strong negativity toward it was because growing up, my older cousins would tell me that velvet came from ants. Why I believed that was even possible, I have no idea. But the very thought gave me a loathing that I took with me through my teen years and early adulthood. Any time velvet would make an appearance as a trend, I dry-heaved. Except for this time around. This time, as velvet has its most major moment since the 90s, I’m intrigued. I’m seeing so many velvet things for fall that I actually want. In fact, I recently ordered two yards of stretch velvet and made my very own dream velvet dress (stay tuned for a future post about it)! But in case you need convincing, or you just want a boatload of velvet-spiration, here you go.
By the way, I found this wonderful tutorial on how to make a similar dress!
