Part of the reason I learned to sew is because I don’t always have a ModCloth budget. 😓 For instance, I wanted this Breathtaking Tiger Lilies skirt in every color! I already have the red one, and it’s the perfect skirt for work, worship, and beyond. But I’m not about to throw down fifty bucks each time I want a basic elastic waist skirt.
I found an old pattern at a secondhand store, stocked up on some sale fabric at Joann, and got to work.
Bonus: it’s a Jiffy pattern! Super easy! 👍🏾
I decided to use a yellow linen fabric, just because I’d never used linen before. I also bought a navy blue cotton blend that feels like a lightweight linen (I’m not really familiar with textiles and stuff…if it’s not 100% cotton, I’m lost), and my mom generously gave me her black crepe that she’s not using. I recently learned how to do French seams, so I want to use them everywhere now! 😄 I even did them on the pockets.
I absolutely love the fit! I may add belt loops at some point.
Outtake: My attempt at a twirl shot was an epic fail. 😳
